World Conference April 6-13, 2019

2019 World Conference Delegate Registration Fees
to be Reimbursed by Mission Centre!

This is for the information of any member considering being a delegate from the Canada West Centre to the 2019 World Conference, scheduled for April 6 to 13, 2019.

This will be a special conference. Besides the usual business of the church, there will be special celebrations in honour of the 25^th anniversary of the dedication of the Community of Christ Temple in Independence, Missouri.

The Canada West Mission Centre will once again assist delegates with the registration fee for the conference. We do not know for sure what that fee will be. In 2016 it was $140 in US funds, which converted to an average of about $190 Canadian at that time.

Undertaking the responsibility of being a delegate to World Conference includes a significant financial commitment. Although a small portion of total expenses, the Canada West Mission Centre is pleased to be able to provide this assistance.

Please consider your availability to serve as a World Conference Delegate. Any baptized member in good standing is eligible. There is no age requirement and no priesthood requirement. Advise Debra Donohue debra@communityofchrist.ca of your interest as soon as possible, and certainly in advance of the Mission Conference scheduled for September 1 in Regina. Delegates will be elected at the Business Meeting of that conference.

Canada West Mission Conference in Regina

to have an “E” Component

As your congregation considers electing delegates for the upcoming Canada West Mission Conference in Regina, keep this in mind: Electronic participation in the conference will be enabled, just as it was for the Electronic Mission Conference in February of this year.

This means that if members would like to be delegates, but do not expect to be able to attend the conference, they will be able to fully participate in the business meeting. Details are yet to be worked out. It is expected that the participation sites will be restricted to a congregation’s building, as it was for the February E-Conference. This will be the first choice because all of the systems at congregational sites are known to work. If a congregation has one or two delegates who wish to participate from an alternate site, they will need to contact Steve Thompson steve@communityofchrist.ca to discuss that possibility. That option may or may not be able to be supported depending on technical details.

Also: Mission Conference “WebCasts”

In addition to the two-way business meeting participation arrangements, it is hoped that we will be able to provide an online video feed of various components of the Mission Conference Weekend. Details are yet to be worked out and finalized, but sessions to be offered will likely include the business meeting on Saturday morning, the Sunday morning worship service, and possibly selected other sessions. Watch for the program. If you will not be in Regina for the conference but would really like to see and hear one or more specific sessions on your computer, let us know! Contact Debra Donohue at debra@communityofchrist.ca. A schedule of sessions to be webcast will be publicized no later than mid-August.

E-Learning Temple School Classes 

Registration opens August 1st! 

Two elearning Temple School Ministry and Priesthood classes will open for registration August 1 (limited space):

Introduction to Scripture - Temple School SS400 

Starts September 8 - ends November 2 (extra time provided during Thanksgiving in Canada)

Ministry of the Disciple - Temple School MP301 

Starts September 8 - ends November 2 (extra time provided during Thanksgiving in Canada)

These elearning classes last 8-weeks during which students proceed together through readings, videos, and quizzes. Students may access each week's class 24-hours a day, 6-days a week (minus one day for grading) providing flexibility in class schedules.

Pay registration fee via cheque mailed to your Mission Centre

$7.50 for class without PDF of book (book not required - all content is in the online class)

$20.00 for class with PDF of book (purchase book if you want content when class is over) 

You will receive log-in information via email after registering.

Students completing Temple School classes receive Temple School credit.
