HOP spiritual retreat

The 20 people who attended the Spiritual Retreat at Hills of Peace on June 4 were blessed with lively discussions, thoughtful insights and beautiful weather. Led by Evangelist Margaret Swartzendruber we focused on experiencing the continuous presence of our God. A highlight was the healing hands class where we shared in the cleansing power of our inner spirit.  Throughout the weekend we were ministered to through classes, campfires, worship services and of course, excellent food. Thank you to the Saints who invested a weekend to revitalize their relationship with each other and the Holy Spirit.

VISION-logo-big

On June 11, 2010 the Canada West Mission held a Young Adult Retreat at the Hills of Peace Campground. Guest Ministry for the event was President Steve Veazey. We talked about the importance of participation in the life of the Community of Christ and how we could best serve the mission of Jesus Christ in our respective communities.

The World Cafe, a conversation hosting site, opened the scope of the discussion. We welcomed  two new Young Adults to the Community of Christ who had a global perspective, being from Jamaica and Guyana recently settling in Provost, AB. They also brought an interesting view having only participated in one other church event - the Spiritual Retreat, and one church service in Ribstone. The weekend was truly exciting and spirit filled as the Young Adults opened themselves to becoming immersed in the visioning process and participating fully in congregational life.

Another first occurred, according to President Veazey as two Young Adults, Jae Senga and Amanda Loucks became engaged.  Congratulations Jae and Amanda!

For the last two years (volumes X and XI) it has been published annually by the John Whitmer Historical Association under special arrangement with the church. This publication includes articles on theology and culture in the church and the broader Latter Day Saint movement. Although most articles are scholarly, research-based works, papers of a more reflective, testimonial nature are also included. Request specification information (length, format, etc.) and submit articles to the editor, Peter Judd, at pjudd@CofChist.org by August 1 for the 2011 issue. Restoration Studies promotes the free expression of carefully considered points of view on matters related to Community of Christ and the broader tradition of which it is a part.
