Canada West Mission Conference in Regina

to have an “E” Component

As your congregation considers electing delegates for the upcoming Canada West Mission Conference in Regina, keep this in mind: Electronic participation in the conference will be enabled, just as it was for the Electronic Mission Conference in February of this year.

This means that if members would like to be delegates, but do not expect to be able to attend the conference, they will be able to fully participate in the business meeting. Details are yet to be worked out. It is expected that the participation sites will be restricted to a congregation’s building, as it was for the February E-Conference. This will be the first choice because all of the systems at congregational sites are known to work. If a congregation has one or two delegates who wish to participate from an alternate site, they will need to contact Steve Thompson steve@communityofchrist.ca to discuss that possibility. That option may or may not be able to be supported depending on technical details.

Also: Mission Conference “WebCasts”

In addition to the two-way business meeting participation arrangements, it is hoped that we will be able to provide an online video feed of various components of the Mission Conference Weekend. Details are yet to be worked out and finalized, but sessions to be offered will likely include the business meeting on Saturday morning, the Sunday morning worship service, and possibly selected other sessions. Watch for the program. If you will not be in Regina for the conference but would really like to see and hear one or more specific sessions on your computer, let us know! Contact Debra Donohue at debra@communityofchrist.ca. A schedule of sessions to be webcast will be publicized no later than mid-August.

About 60 people attended this past Friday. Special thanks to Fire chief Brad and Fireman Scott from the Pitt Meadows Fire Department, Scruffles the Clown, and of course, Windy Willows!

Vancouver Neighbourhood Party

73 people attended the Annual Vancouver Neighbourhood Party.  9 were friends of our members, 10 came from the Meadow Ridge congregation, and 14 were local neighbours. Thanks to The Maybelles for their great music, Robert, Sara and David for preparing and cooking the food, Kit Bolger for the face painting, and to everyone who attended!

Counsellor Needed for Junior Camp

at Hills of Peace

Canada West Mission is in need of one adult male to be a counsellor at Hills of Peace Junior Camp (July 14-18). We have reached capacity and will need to turn campers away without these needed volunteers. Please give serious consideration to this need. CWM camping programs are an important part of our ministry and they are flourishing. The majority of the youth we see do not attend church on Sunday mornings but they attend and are bringing friends with them.

Samish Camp Mungai-Camp Staff and Cook needed

Camp Mungai, Junior Camp ages 8-11 years old, is looking for counselors for August 12-16 this summer, especially male counselors.  If you are a registered youth worker, love kids, and want to spend more time in paradise (Samish Island)  please contact Christine Campbell, samishbird@gmail.com.

I, Debra Donohue, was a counselor at Camp Mungai last year and it was one of the highlights of my summer.

New E-Learning Temple School Classes  

Two elearning Temple School Ministry and Priesthood classes will open for registration May 16 (limited space):

· Ministry of the Priest - Temple School MP304

o Starts June 16 - ends August 10

· Ministry of the Elder - Temple School MP305

o Starts June 16 - ends August 10

These elearning classes last 8-weeks during which students proceed together through readings, videos, and quizzes. Students may access each week's class 24-hours a day, 6-days a week (minus one day for grading) providing flexibility in class schedules.

To register:

· Visit the site http://developmetrics.org and click on the "Canadian Registration Form."

· Pay registration fee via mailed check. Follow instructions for payment to your mission centre on the Developmetrics web site. . 

o Class with PDF of book =  $20

o Class without PDF of book (book not needed for online class) = $7.50

· You will receive log-in information via email after registering.

· Students completing Temple School classes receive Temple School credit.
