CWM Electronic Conference – THIS Saturday!

All members and friends of Community of Christ are invited to attend at your local congregation to participate in the first Canada West Mission Centre Electronic Conference. The conference will be held this Saturday, February 3, 2018, starting at 10 a.m. BC time, 11 a.m. in Alberta, and 12 noon in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

President Steve Veazey will address the Canada West Mission centre at the open of the conference, followed by a few words from Apostle Art Smith and Bishop of Canada Dar Shepherdson.

The agenda and all reports are available at this link to a dedicated folder on the

Mission Centre’s OneDrive site

For the agenda, look for the file called: Doc01a-CWM E-Conference Agenda.pdf

There are many reports; most are short although one or two are two pages or so. Please open up the agenda as well as the reports so you know what is happening at this conference. This is critical if you are a delegate from your congregation. Everyone is encouraged to be informed on these items.

We are looking forward to the conference and thank you for your participation and support.

Please note that the conference will be available electronically at all congregations except Porcupine Plain and Senlac. Contact your Pastor if you have any questions about participating at your congregation.

Learning to Walk in the Dark: Finding God in Turbulent Times

We need a spirituality of the nighttime, teaching us how to find our footing in these times of uncertainty both for our selves and the world. Barbara Brown Taylor

There are times in our lives where we feel like we’ve lost our way, whether through sickness or injury, the death of a loved one, the loss of a job or relationship, or simply a restless boredom that cannot be explained. We find no easy answers in the faith we once had. We feel like we are “walking in the dark” on roads we never planned on traveling.

In her book “Learning to Walk in the Dark”, Barbara Brown Taylor invites us to get curious about these dark places, to trust the “lunar spirituality” that waxes and wanes during these times of questioning and doubt.

Join us for Nurturing Spirit 2018 as we learn how to “wait, listen, breathe, pray, and walk ” through the “dark” times of our lives. Learn how to surrender to “what is” as you find the courage to change, and begin to understand the world in new ways. Learn new spiritual practices to help you feel God’s presence, guiding you through things both seen and unseen. Trust that just as seeds grow quietly in the moist dark soil of the earth, we too grow in the fertile soil of the “dark night”.

Throughout the retreat, we will be drawing from Barbara Brown Taylor’s book “Learning to Walk in the Dark”. It would be helpful to prepare for the retreat by reading this insightful book.
