High Priest and Evangelist Retreat

What a blessing to be able to attend the High Priest/Evangelist Retreat, with both our Presiding Evangelist Jane Gardner, and President of High Priest Quorum David Anderson.   On Friday evening Clarissa and Cori McLean led us through the struggles of trying to make a "Building" out of building blocks, while not being able to see the picture and receiving directions from three different people.  We learned how important it is to use short, clear, distinct directions and to remember we all have different ideas/ interpretations of what we heard.

On Saturday Dan and Denise Esch provided the opening Worship followed by both Jane and David talking about Spiritual Formation and Compassionate action ministry.  After a delicious luncheon by Susan Levitt, Ryan Levitt led us through our Prayer for Peace, assisted by Brenda Senga. Brenda also provided us with excellent music throughout the day.  Our Quorum session with Jane Gardner took "A deeper look at Doctrine and Covenants 165:5" and the High Priest/Seventies session with David Anderson explored "Our Clarion Call: Prophetic Leadership in an Uncertain Age." In the evening we had chats with Jane, Dave, Steve Thompson and Ken Barrows.  We were fed spiritually and physically; and well taught during the Retreat. We missed some folks who had to cancel due to roads; we were thinking of you.

Sunday morning starting with visiting, then we settled into a terrific worship service with two Sacraments. We partook of the Lord's Supper, then were present under the influence of the Holy Spirit as Presiding Evangelist Jane Gardner, assisted by Evangelist Wayne Stanton ordained Denise Esch to High Priest Evangelist.

Those helping with the service were:

Presiding: Canada West Mission President Steve Thompson, Guest Speaker: High Priest David Anderson, Charge to the Candidate: High Priest Gloria Stanton, Soloist: Elder Lisa Neudorf sang "Surely the Presence of the Lord Is In This Place" , Benediction: Elder Dan Esch and Pianist: Bonnie Bock. 

It is always such a privilege to sit under the influence of gracious ministers and experience God's Holy Spirit in such abundance.

CWM Electronic Mission Conference

The Canada West Mission Centre will hold its first Electronic Mission Conference on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Initially we will plan on it taking about 2 hours beginning at  10 a.m. PST, 11 a.m. MST, 12 p.m. CST.

The conference will operate according to the electronic conference procedures approved at the 2016 Mission Conference in Ribstone.

Agenda items will include the following at minimum:

- Canada West Mission Centre contribution to support World Church

- Acceptance of 2014 Audited Financial Information

- Potential amendments to the Electronic Meeting Procedures

Additions are expected to the agenda. If your congregation has an item to add to the agenda, it must be received no later than two weeks prior to the conference.

All congregations should plan to elect delegates for this conference just as are elected for regular conferences.

It will be Internet based so Internet access will be required for participation. If a congregation does not have Internet access in their building, another location may be used (home, business, hotel conference room, etc.). Please: only one location per congregation.  Two or more congregations coming together in one location will certainly be acceptable.

Non-resident members may be represented in a business meeting in a similar ratio from each province. Delegates may be appointed by the Mission Centre President at least 2 weeks prior to the business meeting. Non-resident members can “volunteer” to serve as delegates with notice to the Mission Centre President no later than two weeks prior to the business meeting.

Much more information will be shared between now and the date. Watch for it!
