Dear sisters, brothers and friends in Christ,

I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you (Philippians 1: 3-4)

These have been challenging times in the life of Community of Christ. Even though members and friends of the church are involved in many exciting things all over the world, growing as disciples and promoting Christ’s mission, we’ve been struggling to stabilize world church finances. People can learn more about the story of those difficulties on cofchrist.org under the “News” tab.

In spite of an amazing grassroots effort, championed by many Canadians, that saved us from having to make a further $950,000US worth of reductions to the budget, this week 75 people learned that their positions would not be retained in the world church budget.

These financial challenges also affect us here in Canada.

Tim Stanlick’s, position as Executive Administrator for Canada, has not been retained in the world church budget. Tim has brought excellent organizational and managerial skills to significant projects across Canada. Tim worked alongside the Bishop of Canada, our mission centre presidents and mission centre financial officers, in support of expanding our mission. In particular, Tim worked on planning for a new Canadian headquarters in Guelph, on a project to redesign the Community of Christ Canada website, on supporting the Montreal congregation, on bringing the Ministerial And Discipleship Studies (MEADS) program to Canada, on various legal and property matters, and on a pastors and congregation leaders training initiative. Tim also served on the Canada church leadership team.

Many remember Tim’s excellent work in organizing the Canada national conference and his service as mission centre president for Canada East Mission.

Please join me in thanking Tim for his years of service to the church in a full-time capacity. We wish Tim all the best as he returns to self-sustaining ministry. I am personally grateful to Tim, to his wife Nancy and to Tim’s family for the countless sacrifices made for Tim to be able to serve the church professionally these last years.

Hills of Peace Work Camp

The Hills of Peace Board invites you to the camp opening weekend on May 14 & 15. At camp opening we clean, repair and setup for the camping season. However, no matter your talents/abilities, we are looking for any volunteers to help. Meals and lodging are provided. We ask that you arrive at camp either the night before (May 13) or early Saturday morning. This allows us to organize jobs and get started quickly. If you have any questions or plan to attend please contact Jae Senga from Saskatoon. Our cook will need to know attendance in advanced, so please let Jae know as soon as possible.

Canada West Mission Centre is continuing to offer camps and retreats at no charge to ensure that registration fees are not barriers to participation. Donations are accepted to help offset the costs of the events. As you consider your donations this year, please keep in mind that the high exchange rate between the US and Canadian dollars will result in higher costs to the Mission Centre to fund camps and retreats. Community of Christ App for Android and IOS

Community of Christ launched an app for Android and iOS devices. The app is available for download from Google Play and the App Store on iTunes.

With the Community of Christ app, you can read daily spiritual devotions, watch inspiring videos, stay in touch with mission happening around the world, and much more.

The app development was funded through the generous offerings received during the USA National Conference after event expenses were met.
