Baptism in Regina
On Sunday, November 8, the Regina branch was privileged to witness Hayden Woynarski’s decision to become a member of the Community of Christ. Hayden’s dad, Dan, brought us the morning message, reaffirming the power of relationships between Hayden and his family, his congregation and God. We had planned ahead to fill the fount, but didn’t realize until Sunday morning that the water heater wasn’t working so the branch was given a chance to share by carrying a steady stream of pots filled with hot water and dumping them into the fount. It certainly wasn’t the warmest water, but Hayden’s mom, Sharman was going to baptize him and if it was warm enough for her, it would be ok for him. As is our custom the congregation gathered by the baptismal fount as Sharman lowered him into water (there was no concern that his dyed hair would color the water). Later in the service Hayden was confirmed into the Community of Christ by his dad who was assisted by Dan Esch. We’ll be having a potluck on December 6 to celebrate Hayden’s first communion and are very thankful that Hayden has chosen to make this covenant. Congratulations Hayden !

Spiritual Retreat Hills of Peace wrap up

Special thanks to our guest Ministries Carol and Ken Dudley from Michigan for the great weekend we had at Hills of Peace.
Our Theme was the Rhythm of Life with God, based on the book An Unhurried Life by Alan Fadling.
We are all busy bees. The weekend started with Brenda Senga dressed up as a busy bee making the point that we are all busy. We explored what types of ways we can look at our busy lives and how we can look at them from a spiritual view as was Jesus’ rhythm. Being in a hurry sickens the soul at every level. We looked at our hurried pace of life, and through quotes of the ancients it shows that this hurry sickness is not unique to our generation. As a matter of fact, the Biblical examples show that the lack of patience and trust that fuels hurry was a part of humanity's first sin, and challenging Jesus to rush God and his timing is part of how Satan tempted Christ in the wilderness. An unhurried life, is not a lazy life, nor is it a self-centered one. Rather, it is a thoughtful, meaningful way of living that is modeled after the spirituality of Jesus. We had a great time and we were blessed by the ministry of all who came together to help.

Wayne and Gloria Stanton’s visit to Winnipeg
Evangelist Wayne and Gloria Stanton visited with the Winnipeg congregation from the 18-20th of September. We were able to provide for Administrations, a Saturday afternoon class on how we see Jesus, then we led the Sunday morning service with more than 20 in attendance! It was a very good weekend with lots and lots of eating and visiting. Above is the photo of those who stayed for the Put Luck lunch and everyone had a great time of visiting afterwards.

Saskatoon Women’s Tea
Here is a picture of the women who came to tea. We have been having afternoon tea’s for over 5 years now with a different theme each year. The theme this year was: “When the cat’s away the mice will play” Two of the ladies from Prince Albert also joined us. Our tea’s are the Saturday of the Men’s Retreat at Hills of Peace. Other themes have been: “I Can’t Believe You Wore that to the Tea” “Feathers and Lace” Dinner and a Movie – Mamma Mia; High Tea with white gloves and hats. We have a great time. This year Cori lead us in a short worship, Clarissa not only led us in games but provided most of the sweets. We have met at the Stanton home, except for the movie night and one afternoon at the Berry Barn. It is just so much fun.

Lethbridge
Lethbridge was blessed with ministry from Wayne and Gloria Stanton of Saskatoon. Sixteen of us gathered for worship and fellowship over a great pot luck. Saturday night eleven of us met for pizza or lasagna then went to the church for a night of fun and games followed by pie and ice cream.
