Betty Gurney turns 90!!!

We had a great turnout for Betty’s 90th birthday which included her brother Fred and his wife Maureen from California. Overheard at the party “wow Betty sure looks good for 80” (I guess that means she looks spectacular for 90!!!) Happy Birthday Betty!

AN INVITATION FOR YOUNG ADULTS TO AN INTENTIONAL DIALOGUE PROJECT…

A unique opportunity for Young Adults to be a part of guiding the future of the Community of Christ in western Canada. Canada West Mission is investing in a year-long project involving individuals 18-30(ish). The purpose of the project is for young adults to come together, share your uncensored ideas, opinions, and dreams regarding your involvement and the future of the church here in Canada West Mission. This is the perfect chance for young adults to determine and communicate their vision for the church, and be an active part in the direction it takes. A key part of this initiative will be creating and following through on goals and action steps into the future. We hope you will join us in building the Christ-like community you’ve dreamed of!

The first retreat is happening SOON! June 12-14, 2015 at the Hills of Peace Campgrounds. This is an important event to be present at, as we need to hear all different voices to create a unified plan that embodies all our diverse perspectives. At this first retreat we will also schedule a Fall/Winter retreat and establish a communication plan for dialogue between events. Childcare will be provided at all retreats and there is financial assistance for those who could use some help getting there. If you make the time - we will make sure you get there! Don’t let childcare or money stop you from coming.

What a wonderful day it was, between our Concert, Silent Auction and High Tea, we raised over $1000 dollars for the Burnside Community Association Thursday night dinners, and the Samish Island Campground Fund.

Just a reminder to register for Samish Island U.S.-run youth camps before the early bird deadline.

These camps have set registrations for participants from the U.S., however Canadians may participate on the same donation basis that is available for events operated by the Canada West Mission Centre. Register for the event through this link GPNW Camps or use the fillable form on this page and email them to Dianne Webberly dwebberley@cofchrist-gpnw.org (i.e., do NOT use Canada West Mission Centre registration forms or processes).
