Dear Friends:
After several months of prayer, discernment, and conversation concerning the needs of the Canadian church, I am pleased to announce the following change in assignment. In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, the Director of Field Ministries, and the Presiding Bishopric, I have asked Greg Goheen to take on new responsibilities that will help provide a sustainable future for the church in Canada:
- As of April 1, Greg will serve as the Associate Bishop of Canada, assisting Jim Poirier in order to allow Jim to concentrate on mission funding opportunities and other aspects of his ministry.
- Greg will also serve on an expanded Mission Funding Team, ministering in a development role that is vital to the funding for mission in the Canadian Church and larger World Church.
Greg’s new responsibilities will take him into Canada West, Canada East, the Pacific Northwest and Inland West Mission Centres. Please work with him to assist his ministry when he is in your area. He will not need to relocate for his new assignment, since he will be traveling in Canada and the United States.
The job of Mission Centre President/Financial Officer for Canada West will be posted on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. If you are interested in applying for the position, you can contact International Headquarters Human Resource Ministries, Community of Christ, 1001 W Walnut Street, Independence, Missouri 64050-3562, USA. Opportunity to apply will close on March 21, 2014. If you someone who is qualified or might be interested, please encourage that individual to apply for the position as soon as possible.
We would like to fill the position by April 1. If necessary, however, an interim Mission Center President/Financial Officer will be appointed until the position is filled. Greg will be available to continue the bookkeeping until a new MC Financial Officer is identified.
I am asking for your support and assistance during this time of transition. Greg will be in training for his new role and working with Jim Poirier, as well as handling the day-to-day tasks of Mission Centre President/Financial Officer. Your prayers and understanding will make his tasks easier to handle. Feel free to share this change of assignment and the resulting open position in the mission centre with members in your congregation.
Please join me in celebrating the possibilities for mission that are inherent in this new role, and in affirming Greg Goheen’s dedication and expertise as he undertakes this new assignment.

Pastor’s Retreat
The Pastor’s Retreat will be held in Edmonton the weekend of April 25 to 27, 2014. The guest minister will be Carman Thompson, Field Apostolic Assistant to Apostle Susan Oxley. All Pastors and their counselors / support teams are invited and encouraged to attend. The retreat is an opportunity to be spiritually renewed and connect with the other Pastors in Canada West Mission. In addition, Carman will introduce the new guidelines for “Ministry and Priesthood”.

We are in need Registered Youth Workers who would like to volunteer to be on Camp Staff this summer at Samish Island Campgrounds. If you are interested you can contact the Youth Camp Director for the Camp you wish to be on staff for to find out if they are still in need.
