Assessment Team in Haiti Now : Your generous giving to the Oblation Fund will provide more than $364,000 of direct aid to Haiti. Apostle Bunda Chibwe, David Waring, and Steve Graffeo are currently on the ground in Haiti doing an initial assessment of damage and distributing the first round of Oblation aid. Apostle Jim Slauter, president of the Council of Twelve spoke with the team via satellite phone. "It was good to talk with Bunda and Steve and they report the trip is going well. They shared how graphic and humbling it is to see the devastation in person and also how uplifting it is to hear the stories of faithful disciples whose lives remain filled with hope," said Jim. More details, photos, and video will be shared when the team returns home from Haiti. Your continued prayers and giving to the Oblation Fund are greatly appreciated. Through February 28, all donations to the Oblation Fund will go directly to Haiti for rebuilding lives, homes, schools, churches, and communities.

The Coley Project:A Fundraiser for Children’s Hospital Supporting Teens with Cancer. In September of 2008 14 year old Coley Eidsvik, Vancouver congregation was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. A childhood cancer that is very hard to detect and was already at stage 4 … the prognosis was not good.
Through new technology in chemotherapy, a very aggressive chemotherapy schedule, great doctors, a very positive attitude, and prayers from hundreds of people, in August of 2009 Coley was declared free of Cancer. Coley finished her treatment for chemo on Tuesday January 12th and is still considered in treatment until all her tests are redone at the end of January, but now…the prognosis is fantastic!
The Coley Project is an opportunity for Coley to give back and to express her thanks for her positive outcome. Coley has chosen Children’s Hospital – supporting teens with cancer. Teens have the least amount of support available as they are the smallest group affected by cancer. The Vancouver congregation held a fundraiser on Feb. 6 and raise over $9000 for this fund.
Darrell would like to encourage the rest of the Mission to support this fund if able. Donations can be made to BC Children's Hospital with "supporting teens with cancer" in the memo line. Donations can be sent to CWM, Box 10248, Airdrie, AB T4A 0H5 or Community of Christ, 3333 Kaslo St.. Vancouver, BC V5M 3H3. Your contribution will be forwarded to the proper place. Let's make the end of February the deadline for donations.

Use for individual practice or in small groups. Visit yearning to discern to view the entire resource and read about different spiritual practices."
An update on Haiti can be seen on the World Church website. Watch a short video of how one person's response from the South Pacific influenced more giving. Remember your donations to oblation until Feb. 7 will be given to Haiti relief and be matched by the Canadian government.
