Oblation received from Canadian contributors up to February 12th will be channelled through the Canadian Red Cross and will be matched by the Federal Government. This is for immediate aid and is not directed only to our churches and church members in Haiti. Oblation donations through your envelopes or directly to the CWM office will be included in the amount sent to Red Cross. We have specific approval from the Presiding Bishopric for this approach.  Oblation contributions marked for Haiti and received after February 12th will be used specifically for aid and redevelopment for Community of Christ churches and  members in Haiti. Prayers for Peace: IHQ would like to have prayers for peace submitted from all regions of the church. You can visit the page by clicking on Prayers for Peace. On the left side of the screen there is a menu, one of which is “Submit Prayer for Peace.”  Just follow the guidelines to submit  prayers. Once the prayer is submitted, be aware that it is subject to editing. It would be helpful if as many prayers as possible were submitted by June 1, 2010.

Prophet-President Stephen M. Veazey shared words of guidance and inspired counsel with the church on Sunday, January 17 at 3 p.m. (CST) from the Temple in Independence, Missouri, and via live webcast at www.CofChrist.org.   During the service, President Veazey also shared a letter of counsel about the presiding quorums.  Video archives of the service  are available at www.CofChrist.org/wc2010/counsel.

The Chilliwack Community of Christ congregation is holding its second Day of Peace on Jan 23, 2010.  The event starts at 9:00 am, with speakers at 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm.  Speakers this year include Shannon McAdam ("Love Made Me Do It - Women, Mysticism and Resistance"), Jodie Capling (Environmental Issues), Trevor Hirsche and Janaki Jayanthan (Bolivian-Canadian Clean Water Network).  There will be exciting interactive booths and a free lunch (donations are accepted). Coffee breaks will be sponsored by Level Ground Coffee, a fare-trade coffee company from Victoria. Please join the Chilliwack branch in a Day of Peace on Jan, 23!
